Metal Pass has a strong team of technical experts, each of whom usually has 15 to 30 years of experiences after receiving Ph.D. from USA or Germany. In a team level, Metal Pass and its Partners supply Defect Warning System and several of its major customized systems such as New-Generation Level 2 system and Level 2 Systems EAF. LMF and CAS. The Tech Supply of Metal Pass Consulting covers a wide range of highly technological products and services, as described below.

Lithium Battery Projects

• BYD, world’s Top-2 electric car manufacturer, with Phase 1 (Logics for MES/Level 2, etc., 2015-2016), Phase 2 (Model-based Level 2 System integrated with MES, 2017-2020) & Phase 3 (Knife quality detection system, 2017-2020). In Phase 1, highly accurate models for defect warning system of BYD Lithium-ion battery manufacturing were established, with 85% prediction records within allowed error range guaranteed in the contract, while 98-100% was actually achieved! Six Sigma was integrated to increase model accuracy. In Phase 2 & 3, Software and Hardware of Defect Warning System was developed. Soft Sensing was employed when direct measurement is hard or expensive, where data were extracted from MES and online-detecting systems. During the work, the cutters’ management system was also developed.

• Tesla Consulting in Reno (Gigafactory) & Fremont (CA) Center). Completed Lithium-ion Battery electrode material slitting modeling consulting (Fremont, CA) and for its Gigaplant modeling group and on field systems (all in Reno, NV), etc.

Over 20 large companies in multiple industries, particularly on Industrial Internet (e.g. to link multiple SMT lines or factories), Big Data, Cloud, SAP (e.g. PP, PI, MII), MES (e.g. Rockwell FTPS, Simens Simatics & Camstar, and Verum), Supply chain, etc. Open sources were used for computer vision on product defects, etc. Lists of industry and clients are as follows.

3. Semi-Conductor: Hua Xin Electronics, one of the oldest and largest Chip manufacturers in China (equipment from USA), who produces IGBT chips; AMER Group Semi-Conduct manufacturing center in Shandong Province, on defect warning; etc.
4. Electronics: Skyworth and TCL, both the Top-5 largest TV manufacturers in the world, on defect warning & deduction in product lines; Foxconn, the only iPhone manufacturer in the world, to add manufacturing intelligences for its five major manufacturing areas; Guangye, an electronic connector manufacturer, to increase its productivities for its two major products; etc.
5. Clothing: Yin Group, the largest clothing equipment supplier in China, to improve equipment software; Kaltendin, a clothing manufacturer, on intelligent supply chain which provide best number of clothes for each sales office.
6. Automobile: Weifu, China’s largest auto parts supplier; Foton Bougward, a German-brand electric car manufacturer.
7. Lithium battery: Hefei Guoxuan, the Top-5 China’s largest lithium battery manufacturer; Geesun and Wuxi Lead, two of the largest lithium battery equipment suppliers, to improve equipment software intelligence; etc.

Suppliers of Level 2 System and other Software

Mill software projects, such as those on Level 2 model and roll pass design, are described in more detail in the Mill Level 2 Model Project Series, Mill Related Projects, and Metal Pass Recent Publications, and so on.

The Steel Plate/Steckle Mill Level 2 was jointly developed by Metal Pass and one of its partners. Metal Pass, with high expertise on rolling process models, develops mission-critical functions such as Level 2 model, while certain less technology-intensive sections, such as data collection and the interface with Level 1 and Level 3, etc., are developed by the partner. The Steel Strip Mill Level 2 is the version developed by those Metal Pass experts who have previously developed and supported a similar Level 2 system for many years in US steel mills. The Steel Wire Rod Mill Level 2  was firstly customized based on several Level 2 packages developed by Metal Pass experts for various steel mill sectors EAF, LMF and Caster, and then extended to add mill process and product models. The Misc. Mill Software and Systems consists of a collection of miscellaneous mill software packages including Roll pass software Packages, Level 2 Packages and Support Programs, Level 3 Models, Industrial Automation System Packages and General Engineering Software Packages, etc.

The Wire Rod Mill, after been ordered, will be manufactured by Metal Pass partners based on the key design of Metal Pass. Metal Pass will supply major technological design and mill parameter calculation, and provides electric equipment selection based on the calculation. Metal Pass' partners will manufacture the mill machinery based on Metal Pass' calculation, selection and various guidelines.

Metal Pass also supplies various Mill Auxiliaries, such as oil-film bearing. The machinery and equipment are mainly manufactured by Metal Pass partners under Metal Pass' design or guideline.
